Teatre Lliure

Spain / 2020

This universal work by Lorca tells the story of Bernarda Alba, a very conservative woman who remains a widow and imposes on her five daughters, Angustias, Magdalena, Amelia, Martirio and Adela, to live eight years in mourning. Victoria Szpunberg has made an adaptation where the maid, Poncia, played by Antònia Jaume, becomes the protagonist and tells the story to a curious girl who reads the play secretly from her parents. The illustrations that accompany the dramatized reading, delicate and suggestive images that fill this dark story with light.
